A couple of month someone said to me "All mushrooms are edible. Some of them only once!"
I would love to be a mushroom hunter but unfortunately I know nothing about them. I took this picture near Garlinge Green.

Do you know anything about mushroom? Do you know the name of this one? Let me know...

Hi again :). It's now a daily routine for me to check your blog :). Here in Romania I was a student for 2 years at Biology before i decided to come to Canterbury. So I think that that mushroom is Fomes fometarius, a small one, once they grow into maturity they become very hard, like the bark of a tree. Hope I'm not wrong regarding the species. It's not eatable by the way.
Kisses from Romania,
Nicole
Hi Rose, I think it is a Fungus. Nice picture anyway. From you know who. LOL.
"All mushrooms are edible. Some of them only once!" Now that is funny in a sick way.
Interesting photo -- check out the texture of the fungus. I don't think I'll be having any for dinner, however. :)

It is a pleasure to have you as a regular :)

Hello :) Nice to have you visiting my blog :)

Indeed, a very macabre joke.
Ms M
I think we should have dinner together because I am not eating that either!
I was always given to believe that mushrooms are edible
toadstools are toxic
both are fungi and I wouldn't know the difference most of the time.
My advice get your groceries from the groceries, supermarkets, market stall, but never from the woods!
Nice nature shot. This looks like a shelf fungus. I get my mushrooms prepackaged at the grocers and I'm very happy to leave it at that. Shelf fungus can stay on its shelf, and I will admire it from afar, thanks.
"Louis" is ROTFLHO* over the edible mushroom comment....

I found it hillarious too. The guy who said it to me is one of the tutors in Raymond Blanc Cookery School. He is a kin mushroom hunter and travels all over Europe in search of rare mushrooms.
