I admire people who are bold and brave when picking their outfit. They stand out in the crowd - sometimes like a sore thumb!

St Peter's Church in the Heart of Canterbury

On Sunday I braved the cold weather and went out to take pictures.

As I walked down the St George's St, I noticed St Peter's Church was open so I went in.

It was my first visit there and the lady minding the place told me that it was open because it is that time of the year - Advent - when churches welcome those who for one reason or another come to church.

The interior is very nice but simple. A few items here and there and nothing like Canterbury Cathedral, its big sister up the road. For more information on the history of the ST Peter's Church visit their website

The banner in the picture was given to the church in memory of Dorothy Violet Keeler (1902-1970) who not only was a member of the church but also was the mother of the kind lady showed me around.

A few days ago I went to Canterbury Cathedral and found this stone and dedication in on one of the walls. When I came home, I looked up his name in Wikipedia with no success, then I tried Encarta, Encyclopedia Britannica and again no luck.
As I searched in Googgle I found a bit more but not much more than "Medieval Historian and founding Vice Chancellor of University of Kent at Canterbury."

It stroke me as how could some who had so much influnce in people's lives be forgotten so easily...

Henry Moore lived in Kingston near Canterbury

Henry Moore (b 30/07/1898) was not only one of the most famous and well known sculptors in the UK, he was also one of the most influential artist in this country.

Most biographies of Henry Moore on the web don't mention that he lived in The Orchards in Kingston near Canterbury.
