I moved to the UK back in 1993 and until then I had no idea of the existence of allotments.
They are small parcels of land, usually provided by the council, where people grow food and sometmes flowers too.
This allotment is in Broadoak in the outskirts of Canterbury.

I wish we had a tradition of allotments here in California. There are a few "community gardens" but they aren't quite the same.
