All Souls Day

Today is for many, a day to celebrate our ancestors and people who have left us.
I found this picture on Chilham Cemitery and thought I would share it with you.

I like your theme day post too. I forgot it was theme day so I just posted some pictures of my books anyway.

I like this tombstone for what it represents. A living human being with fingernails, hair and eyes among all the rest. Who once went by a name and maybe had children but certainly was a child. The taste of the bread baked and what was drunk instead of coffee and tea. Things the stone don't tell us. Just a reminder of what we lose when we go. Everything. In time, the stone will disappear or the name on it and then we will know nothing about the long gone bones in the ground.

Tombstones are incredible.

Very peaceful shot, Rose. Reminding us of a real person there.

poignant, restrained and yet a powerful reminder of the transient nature of our brief lives
