You would think this young woman was sitting on her bed in her bedroom, alone at home, listening to music, doing her art work (if you look close you can see a drawing pad and a pen). But, in actual fact, she is sitting on a bed on the middle of a very busy square in Canterbury.
She is an artist working on a very interesting project where she sits in a room where the walls are made of canvas and the room itself is in a busy street, while, from a small window in the canvas, people come and observe her and then write their thoughts about it on the outside walls.
I think this is an extremely interesting way to live your art and at the same time deliver some very original material...
Go for it girl!

Rose, why do you never feature Whitstable? You seem to love Herne Bay but never a mention of Whitstable. Is there a reason?

Guilty as charged.
I live in Hythe, so Whistable is a little far for me. Occasionally, my family and I go for fish and chips and a few games on the amusement arcades in Herne Bay hence the photos.
I have been meaning to go up to Whistable and I will soon...

Rose, you will love it! You must try to get here to Whitstable. When you do come you can walk from the harbour selling fish and shellfish, oysters etc, right along the seafront, past the old shiplap houses which stand almost on the beach. Please try to come, I know you will love it.
Since the artist can decide her own terms of production, I wonder if a sweater/jumper would have spoiled the concept?
I fear I'd end up sleeping all day and that wouldn't make a very good art project. Gotta give this woman credit for attempting something like this though. Hope she got some nice comments!
That's very brave or her. I never think of things like this as 'art'; I guess I'm old fashioned in that art for me is usually a painting or a sculpture.
This must have been taxing for her, poor dear. Is she related to Tracy Emin by any chance? Would like to have seen what people wrote. Great photo anyway.
I think it's interesting. Did she stay there for more than a day? Night time, too? I could never do it! Art is in the eye of the beholder.
She must be so devoted to her art. It is quite a vulnerable position to be in.
One thing it reminds me is the surveillance of modern life, but placing the intimacy of her own private world in a public square takes some courage.
I assume she doesn't stay there overnight? I suspect that would be too vulnerble.
I heard that Tilda Swinton lived in a room behind glass for several days at the Serpentine Gallery before she was famous.
Oh what passion she must have! I applaud her and hope it takes her to grand places in her life!
