Vandals

It is amazing but some people think that engraving their names on one of the most beautiful and oldest buildings in the world is cool.
I found this sign on the Water Tower in Canterbury Cathedral.

I agree but how wonderful the sign is written in such old English - indeed it probably is original.

And so polite!

Some people are nuts. Generally, they do the odd things, like touching wet paint. Cutting names into churches or other old buildings is nuts.

I was in a Japanese pill box on Iwo Jima, in 1956, and there were names of American soldiers scrawled while the battle was going on around them. Is that nuts? I think it is.

The sign is a plea for sanity.

Hey Rose! Whatever happened to common courtesy, eh? Love these signs that say so much in so few words. Now, speaking of courtesy, "anon" please show some respect for Rose who really doesn't have to be showing you or us any photos at all. Good weekend to you Rose!

Well said, Coltrane.

I think Mr. Lincoln is right: some people are nuts.

Both of these signs are so politely worded -- makes me smile. Much more tasteful than "Keep off the grass!" or the rude comments by anon...
