Roman Lighthouse

This is one of the oldest surving buildings of Roman Britain. It was built about 2000 years ago and, at the time, was one of the tallest building in England.

And, Rose, after all those years it looks like it is still inhabited by a couple of gulls, perhaps. Ah, they certainly don't build 'em like they used to. ;-)

It looks very old. Is this tower left without any special maintenance or treatment? I hope not.

This building reminds me of that song by the Fixx, Built for the Future as this lighthouse was built to last!
