Oh yes, Rose, I would obey that one! It's scary what's got to be pointed out to people visiting, isn't it? Well, I do recall that in front of my high school we had a canon on a large pedestal which bore our school's name, and we would regularly climb up and sit on it for photos, so maybe the warning is needed at the castle for that very reason? And I could see young children scaling the walls with nice chunky stones like that :-).

I never imagined reading a sign today that was so polite that included the word canon! A very well mannered sign, I would most definitely obey. Fabulous choice, it really suits the place somehow.

An excellent find, Rose!

I love the international date line. Here it is not yet July 1 in my part of the world and I'm enjoying so many signs already. Fantastic fun! And I will not climb on the cannon, or for that matter, tread on any canon, canonical or otherwise.

Hola Rose...so this is life in Canterbury. My first time to stop and here I'm greeted by such a friendly sign (NOT!). Where's all the fun if you can't climb on a canon? I mean come on now! I mean it's not like they're loaded. However,I did count three "no's" in that sign. caNOn, "on" (reversed of course), and NOt. Rose, there should be a prize or recognition for your having three NOs. High Fives to you!!!

*canNOn...[Geez! My Spanish got in the way!]

I like the vegetation...it softens the no.

Goodness. Especially not the cannon!

You have to love a sign that cares so much for the safety of others, rather than damage to itself. Must be that British courtesy.

the comments so far are as delightful as the sign.

Hi Rose,

The bees are back in Brookville, Ohio. I hope for the rest of the year at least. I even got one on my Better Blog Writing post today. LOL

I see you found an adorable No sign. A neat looking safety first sign. Here, the other day, the neighbor kids were up on their shed roof, with fishing poles and reels, casting out in the yard for some big fish. I worry about kids and they are not even mine.

Isn't it almost funny to think of adult people scurrying around their communities taking pictures of signs. And if somebody had asked what that is all about and you said a sign with "no" on it, they might... well. It is kind of funny.

Please? PLEASE!! What sort of a NO sign is that. Oh ... and English No sign - but, of course.

What a terrific choice. THe first time I have read "please" today.

I will take this advice to heart the next time I see a cannon. Good choice for theme day, Rose.

That is a very polite sign. Does it work?

Safety first I guess, nice find.
