It's lovely!
Wow, the houses are really close to the street. Is there much traffic or noise? It is very picturesque.
I guess your "lane" is like a street or a road here. The difference is that here the buildings set back off or away from the roads some considerable distance. It is a very nice photograph.
This is located in a very old village (Tudor) and it was quite normal for the houses to be very close to the road.
