I don't know if you know but a lot of Canterbury town centre is a pedestrian zone. Cars are only allowed on some of the side roads or for deliveries.
A new photo of the beautiful city of Canterbury in Kent and surrounding area every day.

I like the idea that large areas are preserved for pedestrians rather than vehicles. Good for Canterbury, I say.
Frankly it would be good if more towns adopted this practice. From my experience it seems Europe is far ahead of the USA in this respect.
You're lucky. As Chuck said, in Europe there are indeed many towns that have pedestrian streets and sometimes a whole nieghborhood. It's so great.
Okay, so I love your blog as much as PDP. Canterbury is lovely. I must also cast blame upon you for 1001 shoes, which will drive me into bankruptcy.
However, since I love your work so much, I will simply chastise you that its thursday in California, and I am without Shoes of the day, or lovely Canterbury of the day.
:) I hope all is well.
